From a young age, Decode 1.8 founder and head designer, Hyun Jung Kim, gravitated towards the arts, particularly classical music and fashion. Kim pursued a degree in fashion design at a university in her native South Korea. This elite technical training groomed her for her first job as a stylist. Kim continued to feed her passion for the arts by joining a local theater company where she honed her skills on and off stage as an actor and costume designer.
At the age of 25, the budding design-star made a bold move in the name of fashion, relocating to New York. Following graduation from the Parson’s The New School for Design, Kim lent her skills to prestigious design firms where she spearheaded the successful launch of a broad spectrum in design collections ranging from sportswear to evening dresses.
In February 2009 the seasoned designer took a leap of faith and launched her own contemporary dress line. Hyun Jung Kim channels her love of art, knowledge of theatre and passion for style into her unparalleled designs to produce a fresh, innovative line of dresses.
