You’ve waited all your life to plan the perfect wedding. Now the big day is approaching, and you still haven’t found the exact vibe that will reflect your tastes or precisely match your vision of how to make it a truly special day.
If this is the quandary you find yourself in, the Decode 1.8 Team looked into the top wedding trends for 2018 to help you make it the wedding of your dreams.
This year it seems anything goes, from small and intimate to gala extravaganza. The bottom line, however, is individuality.
Personalized Weddings
“Personalization has made its way into every aspect of weddings, as couples proudly show their unique personalities and styles throughout the food, entertainment, escort cards, and florals,” reports Kristen Maxwell Cooper, editor-in-chief of The Knot.
“Couples are also making a personal statement with their registries,” she says. “Long gone are the days of registering just for the sake of tradition. Today’s couples are asking for what they truly want, be it a KitchenAid mixer for the baking obsessed, a couple’s massage for their beach honeymoon, or IVF treatments to help start a family.”
Intimate or Gala Weddings
The events themselves are trending either simple and cozy or grand-scale blowout, according to Bridal Guide.
“Intimate weddings provide a chance to interact with your loved ones in ways that simply aren’t possible when the guest count tops 100,” the magazine reports. “On the other end of the spectrum are couples who are fully embracing their role as hosts of the biggest party they’ll ever throw.”
Bottom line? How do you see yourself: warm and down-to-earth, or outgoing party gal? Staying true to you is the best way to make your day comfortable and fun for you and your guests and to make it, above all, memorable.
Non-Traditional Weddings
Other top trends include non-traditional guest books, rings, flowers, and unusual additions to the wedding party, as in pets.
“In 2018, pets are being worked into the wedding day in details like dogs playing flower girl with flower collars, to signs for the dog to sport, or pet cake toppers if your dog won’t be at the ceremony,” according to ABC News.
Wedding Capes
As for attire, the top trend in wedding dresses this year is capes in place of the traditional veil. We’ve also incorporated this trend into many of our styles, and one in particular that floats down the aisle for a bridesmaid or mother of the bride: #184005, a chiffon cape over a long lace gown.
Those who stick with veils are looking to make a statement, with fringe, florals, romantic draping, detailed appliques, and color.
Wedding Dresses in Different Hues
White wedding dresses are great for a traditional bride, but the latest trend is colorful! Last year’s “hint of pink” dress trend is showing even bigger this year, along with champagne, and even touches of black in the bride’s gown. We’re in love with the trending palette of pastels, like this lace applique long gown with an illusion back, #184485r.
Whether you opt for traditional or non-traditional wedding, Decode 1.8 has an amazing selection of dresses guaranteed to suit any style wedding, for brides, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, bridesmaids, and wedding guests!
